Leonard S. Schleifer, MD, PhD, founded the Company in 1988, has been a Director and its President and Chief Executive Officer since its inception. He served as Chairman of the Board from 1990 through 1994. Dr. Schleifer, together with Dr. Yancopoulos, has grown Regeneron from a tiny startup into a ~$50 billion market cap company, with a unique science-driven culture, successful drug discovery and development engine and eight FDA-approved medicines. Dr. Schleifer has been recognized as one of Barron’s Best CEOs and as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. He graduated from Cornell University and earned his MD and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Virginia. Dr. Schleifer is a licensed physician, certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and worked as a practicing neurologist before founding Regeneron.
